Course Description

This course follows SAMHSA’s Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities handbook for dealing with substance abuse in the workplace. This document provides valuable information as to how different prevention techniques can be administered in a professional setting, including how data analysis and documentation can help with the prevention process.

This course requires the participant to read and understand the KSA manual and then apply their knowledge in a comprehension test. The KSAs described by SAMHSA are important competencies that should be known and understood by those who work in a professional setting. This includes human resources professionals, counselors, therapists, social workers, and others who may deal with substance abuse in a professional setting.

Course Learning Objectives

  • Learner will know different sets of Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) that are important to prevention in the workplace.
  • Learner will know the value of cultural awareness when making decisions based on the values and beliefs of different individuals
  • Learner will understand how KSAs can be used to organize important competencies in the workplace
  • Learner will understand how KSAs are valuable in a prevention setting.

 

Course Requirements

You will be expected to review all materials provided and pass the post-test with a minimum of 80%, in order to receive your certificate of completion. You will also be required to complete a course evaluation. Once you have satisfactorily completed the post-test and submitted your evaluation, you will be able to download your certificate.
