Course Description
The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5) is the 2013 update to the American Psychiatric Association’s (APA) classification and diagnostic tool. This Course outlines the changes made to the DSM-5 diagnostic criteria and texts in the same order in which they appear in the DSM-5 classification. However, it should also be noted that this is not an exhaustive guide; minor changes in text or wording made for clarity are not described here. This course is intended to familiarize mental health professionals, social workers, substance abuse professionals, child welfare workers, healthcare professionals, psychologists, or certified addiction specialists, with the changes made to the DSM-5 diagnostic criteria and texts.
