Course Description
"Flakka" is one of the latest designer drugs hitting the streets of South Florida and is even more potent and more addictive than its synthetic predecessors. This course is comprised of a video which introduces this new synthetic drug, reviews some of its distinguishing characteristics, discusses the chemical composition of the drug and how it effects the brain. This course will also guide the learner on how to report someone who is believed to be on the drug.
Course Learning Objectives
- To be introduced to the designer drug known commonly as “Flakka” and its unique position and development in the framework of controlled substances
- To recognize marketing techniques used by retailers and product manufacturers
- To identify target consumers
- To understand the development and evolution of laws sought to control the production and possession of Flakka
- To be aware of the reported effects and dangers associated with the use of Flakka
- To be familiar with the psychoactive ingredients often found in Flakka
- To understand the complexity of laboratory detection of synthetic compounds in potential users
- To understand the metabolism and physiological effects of Flakka
- To understand the fact and fiction behind the media portrayal of Flakka
Course Requirements
You will be expected to review all materials provided and pass the post-test with a minimum of 80%, in order to receive your certificate of completion. You will also be required to complete a course evaluation. Once you have satisfactorily completed the post-test and submitted your evaluation, you will be able to download your certificate.
