Course Description
This course includes a review of three basic types of coping skills: emotional, behavioral, and cognitive. It is offered for CE credit to remind the helper of important tools and techniques necessary for self-care as a helper, but it is also a guide for the helper to use with his/her clients, as well. The Coping Skills Handbook will explain the difference between the three types of coping skills and provide examples of each.
Course Learning Objectives
- You will learn the difference between emotional, behavioral, and cognitive coping.
- You will be able to identify examples of emotional, behavioral, and cognitive coping skills.
- You will be able to recognize signs of physiological distress and implement several techniques to soothe the distress.
- You will be able to differentiate what is in your control to change and implement techniques to improve outcomes.
- You will learn how to communicate assertively, solve problems, and resolve conflicts.
- You will be introduced to the concept of neuroplasticity.
- You will learn to develop awareness of your own thoughts, recognize self-defeating or distorted thinking, and implement cognitive techniques to reframe and challenge such thoughts.
Course Requirements
You will be expected to review all materials provided and pass the post-test with a minimum of 80%, in order to receive your certificate of completion. You will also be required to complete a course evaluation. Once you have satisfactorily completed the post-test and submitted your evaluation, you will be able to download your certificate.
