Course Description
This Course requires the Participant to read and understand the attached article produced by the National Institute of Mental Health concerning the various anxiety disorders. This article describes the different types of anxiety disorders recognized by the National Institute of Mental Health, their causes (or etiologies), the symptoms associated with the various disorders, and the treatments available for persons suffering from one or more of these disorders. After completing the article, the Participant will be able to identify the different types of anxiety disorders and understand how they interact with each other in a person suffering from more than one disorder. The Participant should be able to understand and describe the various therapeutic treatments available to persons suffering from one or more disorders, as well as name and classify the various medications used by practicing mental health physicians to treat such disorders.
This course is designed to provide updated information published by the National institute for Mental Health to professionals working with individuals or groups that suffer from these disorders, including Judges, General Magistrates, attorneys, therapists, psychologists, or certified addiction specialists working with dual diagnosis patients. The course may also be useful to family and friends of persons suffering from these disorders who wish to play an active role in the recovery of their loved ones.
Course Learning Objectives
- Name the different types of anxiety disorders
- Identify the differences and similarities between and among the disorders
- Understand what triggers symptoms in persons suffering from these disorders
- Become familiar with the different treatment options and their effectiveness
Course Requirements
You will be expected to review all materials provided and pass the post-test with a minimum of 80%, in order to receive your certificate of completion.
