Course Description
This course will teach SAMHSA's new guidelines on the reintegration of incarcerated women into society. After the course, the participant should have a better understanding of the process and the difficulties associated with reintegration. Additionally, the participant will learn valuable information on how to offer support to newly-released women.
SAMHSA's “After Incarceration: A guide to Helping Women Reenter the Community” provides an overview on the various aspects of the reintegration process as well as the gender-specific issues related with incarcerated women. This information will provide participants with the ability to better care for this particular demographic.
This course is intended for counselors, social workers, psychologists, and others who may be working with incarcerated or newly-released women.
Course Learning Objectives
- Learner will understand the difficulties with women reentering society after incarceration
- Learner will be able to recognize pathways to assist in the reintegration process
- Learner will understand the impact of incarceration on an individual’s perception of society
- Learner will understand the important aspects of a reentry plan and the key points of an effective reentry plan
Course Requirements
You will be expected to review all materials provided and pass the post-test with a minimum of 80%, in order to receive your certificate of completion. You will also be required to complete a course evaluation. Once you have satisfactorily completed the post-test and submitted your evaluation, you will be able to download your certificate.
